Production Processes Group- research into manufacturing technology Contact address:Institute for Manufacturing ppg-enquiries NOTE: the Low Carbon and Materials Processing group (sustainable manufacturing) have moved to: Dept. of Engineering |
Information about the groupMembers of the Production Processes Group carry out research into manufacturing processes at the component level, with an emphasis on understanding and applying the underlying science. Topics include the development of better models for traditional processes, as well as of innovative processes based on emerging technologies. Throughout, there is a strong emphasis on the commercial priorities and on the transfer of technology to industry. Research Centres within the groupCentre for Industrial PhotonicsInvestigation and exploitation of today's industrial laser systems to offer unparalleled capabilities in precision manufacturing and advanced materials processing. More information can be found about the centre on the CIP web site. Inkjet Research CentreResearch addressing generic questions associated with ink jet printing. The centre collaborates with several academic and industrial partners in a major EPSRC initiative. More information can be found about the centre on the Inkjet Research Centre web site. Research student applicationsThe Group welcomes applications from potential Research Students for the PhD degree. Any member of the Group is happy to respond to informal enquiries on research topics and opportunities by e-mail. Details of current research topics and opportunities for research studentships are given in the web pages for the Centre for Industrial Photonics and the Inkjet Research Centre. Some projects within the Sustainable Manufacturing Group are also closely linked to production processes. Further information on the application procedure are available from: EventsMembers of the Production Processes Group are involved in organising the following events: JournalsThe international journal WEAR is edited by Ian Hutchings; details of the scope of the journal, and information on how to submit a paper, are provided on the publisher's website: Wear - An International Journal on the Science and Technology of Friction, Lubrication and Wear |
