MET IIB: Finance and accounting

This module builds on 3P8 (financial management and accounting), and introduces more advanced methods and concepts. With some additional private study this modules provides the grounding to enable students to take examinations for the Certified Diploma in Accounting and Finance.

Module learning outcomes

On completion of the module students should be able to:

  • Understand how firms record and report their financial performance and be able to handle financial accounts.
  • Have a good understanding of the purpose and methods of management accounting.
  • Understand the options businesses face over financing their activities and the factors influencing their choices.
  •  Understand the financial risks businesses have to address and the financial instruments they may use.
  •  Have a good understanding of the financial processes affecting corporate life - in particular, understanding the factors impinging upon individual and corporate decisions and having a good overview of the financial aspects of organisations.
